In August Matthew Cox our president, will be attempting to ride 100 miles from London, through the Surrey countryside and back to London for a cause that he feels passionately about, the welfare of our seafarers.

Seafarers UK has been helping people in the Maritime community for over 100 years, by providing vital support to seafarers in need and their families, and to those in education or training who are preparing to work or serve at sea.

The charity does this by giving to organisations and projects that make a real difference to people’s lives, such as Human Rights at Sea, of which I am a trustee.

Last year, Seafarers UK gave grants totaling £2.5m to more than 60 charities, organisations and projects.

Seafarers UK receives no government funding and is heavily dependent on public donations and legacies to maintain its grantmaking programme.
